Stewart Wins Limited/Crate Late Model Special

Blake Stewart parlayed his inside second row starting position and a strong run into a $1,250 payday as he won the Limited/Crate Late Model Special at Cleveland Speedway Saturday night.

Stewart, who started third on the grid, took the lead from pole sitter Trig Parris on the sixth lap of the 25-lap event. He would lead the remaining 19 laps to take the win.

When the green flag flew pole sitter Parris would jump into the lead followed by Stewart, outside front row starter Jason Payne, Devin Dilbeck and Brindle. When Parris faltered on the sixth circuit Stewart took the lead, Brindle and Rick Hixson would move into second and third. At the halfway the field had settled in with Stewart in the lead and Brindle, Hixson, Dilbeck, Matt Steward rounding out the top five.

The top four would stay the same to the checkered flag with Payne rebounding to take fifth. Brian Burke, Steward, Craig Burrows, Bobby Doss and Trig Parris would round out the top 10.

Picking up Car Smart Used Cars heat race wins were Hixson and Dilbeck. Also taking home Car Smart cash were Stewart, Brindle, Payne and Parris.

Murphy, NC driver Preston Graves took the lead from Cody Barnett on lap 14 and held off Barnett for the remaining 16 laps to record his first Cleveland Speedway Late Model win. Barnett would settle for second with Jeff Franklin, David Davis and Scott Hall rounding out the top five.

Cory Bettis would take the lead on lap 13 of the 20-lap A-Hobby feature and would hold off Devin Stuart to take the win. Stuart would cross the line in second and was followed by Tommy Miller, Frank Brzozowski and Charlie Shook.

Eric Hughes would take the lead on lap one and lead every lap of the 20-lap B-Hobby feature to take the win. On his was to victory Hughes would first hold off pole sitter John Petty, then Arva Lee Brooks and in the waning laps the 2008 B-Hobby champion Michael Anderson.

Following Hughes and Anderson across the stripe were Donald Forgey, Ray Earwood and Brooks.

David Goode was the class of the Pony field as the Cleveland driver led every lap to win the feature. Danny Burnette was second, Nick Farris third, Franklin Burke fourth and William Beavers fifth.

In Front Runner action Dustin Cansler put an end to Kenny Kizzar's wins streak as he led every lap to take the win. Kizzar was second, James Breland third with Derrick Forgey and Catherine Frazier rounding out the top five.

This was the last regular race of the season at Cleveland Speedway. Until the season ending Joe Lee Johnson Memorial Weekend on November 14th and 15th there will be the Grant Adcox Memorial on October 18.
