Emergency Worker Training
CPD Officers attended an in-house emergency worker training session hosted by the Emergency Management Agency. The purpose of this training was to familiarize officers with the use of the Emergency Worker Kit. Jeff Gunter of the Emergency Management Agency used a hands-on approach to show CPD officers how to put the radiacmeter into operation and how to detect a radiological source by using the dosimeter. A map of the shelter site was shown to help officers visualize site areas in case of a county/city emergency.
Busted!
CPD K9 Officer Brandon West responded to Lowe’s and Wal-Mart in
reference to a theft in progress. Two suspects entered the
aforementioned stores and stole approximately $6,000 worth of
merchandise over a period of time. Information was given to K9 Officer
Brandon West about the suspect’s possible location. Officer Phillip
Ross responded to the location and found the vehicle described to have
been used in the thefts. While Officer Ross was at the Travel Inn, the
suspects walked out of the hotel room and Officer Ross detained the
suspects. Criminal Investigations Lieutenant Robert Harbison, Detective
Brian Pritchard and Crime Scene Tech Officer Clark responded to the
scene and transported the suspects to the police department. Suspects
Kenny McCroskey and Steven “Judd” Semack were charged with a felony of
theft over $500. Thefts in several different counties were solved as a
result of the arrest of these individuals.
